The first annual Job Fair/Business Expo was held on April 15th. Overall, this being our first time attempting to hold this type of event I think it went well. I would have liked a little more of our businesses in attendance. Some of the vendor and personal observations were noted for the future and I strongly feel that this event will grow and become a better event for the entire Chamber.
This weekend, April 22 (Earth Day) the Chamber has scheduled its quarterly cleanup of Weeks Road. For those new to the Chamber, Weeks Road was adopted by the Chamber under the Town’s Adopt a Highway. The town proudly displays signs at each end of Weeks Road displaying that it has been adopted by the Chamber. For those of you that can spare some time, we will meet in the Pathmark Parking lot by 10 a.m. and will start our clean up. It should not take us more than an hour.
The Chamber will also install a flag pole at St. Paul’s Reform Church on Phelps Lane. The Church over the years has been very supportive of the Community. The Church also hosts many community events for various organizations; they have a great Day Care Center and also house the North Babylon Food Pantry. So please join us in raising the flag pole. For those who want to participate in the blessing and dedication of the Flag Pole, Pastor Conrad will hold a dedication ceremony on Sunday, April 30 at 11 a.m. So please come join in and show your support.
For current members and those that became members through our Maptoon Project, the Chamber will be hosting a Network Night for everyone on Monday, May 22, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the North Babylon Buffalo Wild Wings. This will be an informal meeting of our members, to network. There will be a cash bar and the appetizers will be on the Chamber. Watch for an invitation to go out and we will request an RSVP if you wish to attend.
