FROM THE PRESIDENT
Our March meeting will start off with Newly Elected County Legislator Tom Donnelly as our guest speaker. Mr. Donnelly was elected in November to the Suffolk County Legislator after serving several years as Town of Babylon Counselman. Mr. Donnelly has always fought for a better Babylon and he will continue to strive to make Suffolk County a better and safer place to raise your families.
I know many of you do not believe spring is here. However, with the beginning of spring the North Babylon Chamber will now look to bring our presence outside.
On Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Diana Simulcik, a member of the Chamber will be co-hosting along with the Police Department, the second Annual – “The Ugly Truth” at the North Babylon High School. This event will bring further attention to the Opioid Problem and it is full of information we as a member of this Community should know and be aware of.
Moving on, the Board will need assistance from its Members on Saturday, April 21 starting at 10 a.m. when we start by picking up the liter on Weeks Road from Deer Park Avenue to Bay Shore Road. You may recall that Weeks Road was assigned by the Town of Babylon, to the Chamber under its “Adopt-A-Highway program. Immediately afterward we ask as many of our Members to meet us around 11 a.m. at Belmont Avenue and Hubbard’s Path where we will clean up and plant flowers at the Chamber Corner. The more support that shows up the quicker the work will go.
All are invited to attend the North Babylon High School Scholarship Night on Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. The Chamber is proud that we will be presenting three scholarships to some amazing graduating seniors. In addition, the Chamber will be presenting a plaque to the High School which will proudly display not only this year’s winners of the scholarship but those that won it in 2016 and 2017.
As the spring moves on to the summer and the fall please keep an eye out for (what I hope) will be a joint venture between the Chamber and the Civic Associations of North Babylon, in presenting a Music Festival at Phelps Lane.
Do not forget our third annual Fall Festival, on Sunday, October 7, where we try to bring the North Babylon Business Community together along with other vendors. This year we are also currently working to have an American Red Cross Blood Donor bus for those in the Community that wish to donate blood.
We are also working on two possible Fund Raisers in the fall. A night out at a Comedy Show and a fun filled day doing a Winery Tour. So keep an eye out as the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce will be busy promoting our local businesses and remember to keep the North Babylon area strong by supporting our Local Businesses.
