Doug Snider of MapToons attended our March Board meeting and displayed the finished product MapToon put together depicting many businesses in the Greater North Babylon Area. Doug reported that he had 170 businesses participate. With that, Doug presented the Chamber a check for $1,250 and a giant copy of the map which will be unveiled at the March 27 meeting in Applebee’s.
This month our Member Guest Speaker will be Judy Keller from PLEXUS INTERNATIONAL. Judy will discuss the many products of Plexus which will keep you healthy and help you with your weight.
If you have been viewing our Facebook page – www.facebook.com/NorthBabylonChamber I am attempting to post as many of the new members that recently signed up with Doug on Maptoons. Since my time is sometimes very limited I can only post several per day.
The Chamber’s first “Job Fair/Business Expo is scheduled for Saturday, April 15th. If you are planning on becoming a vendor (free to members) please have your application in by April 7th. The event will at the Phelps Lane Pool Pavilion (most likely the Blue Room) and will be open to the public and all businesses from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will also be a table set up to assist individuals in preparing a resume.
I would like to thank the Scholarship Committee (Diane DeLuca, Judy Keller and Diana Simulcik) for their time and effort in selecting the three High School students that will be a recipient of our 2nd Annual Scholarship. This year, twelve students submitted the paperwork for a scholarship and as always it was very difficult for the Committee to narrow it down to three. The Scholarships will be awarded to these well deserving students on Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at the North Babylon High School.
On Saturday, April 22, the Chamber is scheduled to do one of its quarterly cleanup of Weeks Road under the Adopt a Highway project with the Town. If you can spare some time to assist in this project it would be greatly appreciated. We will meet in the Pathmark parking lot at 10 a.m. Later, the same day, at 1 p.m. all hands of deck to help the Chamber install the Flag pole (which we will be donating) at St. Paul’s Reformed Church. Need I remind everyone that St. Paul’s opens its doors to many of our local community organizations and also hosts the North Babylon Food Pantry.
Looking ahead, I would like to mention that State Senior Phil Boyle as agreed to address the Chamber membership at our June 26th meeting. So please save-the-date and come hear what our Senator has to say and for the Q&A afterward.
Yours in Business,
Garrett P. Simulcik, Sr.
