This month’s General Meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 27 at Applebee’s. Networking hour will start at 6 p.m. and the General Meeting will start at 7 p.m. Our Guest Speaker is scheduled to be Town of Babylon Supervisor and Chamber member Rich Schaffer followed by our Membership Speaker Jeff Lambert of South Bay’s Neighbor Newspapers.

The Chamber has recently completed its Adopt-A-Spot site at Belmont Avenue and Hubbard’s Path. This corner has been adopted under the Town of Babylon’s Adopt-A-Spot and proudly displays a beautiful sign “North Babylon Welcomes You.” If you have not yet seen the sign I urge you to drive past and take a look.

While in the process of working on the site, local landscaper Jamie Scanapico stopped by and has graciously offered to maintain the spot on a weekly basis but to mulch the existing area and add to the retaining wall. Once completed, the spot will look beautiful. Many of the neighboring residents are pleased that this corner has seen this improvement.

On Monday, June 13, Terence Mc Sweeney came to see me and advised me that he needed to step down as Treasurer and member of the Board. I was somewhat at a loss as Terence has been a driving force for helping get this Chamber started and for offering some great ideas. I am happy to say that Terence will remain an active member of the Chamber and has agreed to act as the Liaison to the Town of Babylon. I am equally happy to report that Carole Raynor Neidig has agreed to replace Terence Mc Sweeney for the remainder of his term. Carole joins us with her expertise of Accounting Procedure and will be an added asset to the Board.
This entire chain of events was best summed up by Richard Irizarry. Rich had this to say. “Thank you to Terence for all you did to help get the Chamber Started! You were a major component of this board and I thoroughly enjoyed working with you. I see very big things for you in the future and I wish you all the best of luck!” I would also like to welcome Carole who will make an excellent addition to our board. We are very lucky to find such a competent and professional replacement! Welcome aboard Carole!

In addition, I would like to acknowledge and thank Tim Rissmiller of Tim Tek for putting together our Paint Night at Mangia’s on Monday, June 13th. A shout out to those Chamber members for helping out and making it a fun filled evening and a successful fundraiser.

I would also like to welcome our newest member Patricia Kirk who not only joined the Chamber in early June but also participated in Paint Night. It was a pleasure meeting her.
