Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year. This month, the January General Meeting will be held at Applebee’s. Please feel free to join us before the meeting after 6 p.m. for Networking followed by our General Meeting at 7 p.m. The Guest Speaker will be our own Carole Raynor Neidig who will be discussing important information regarding the upcoming Tax Season.
The Board has been busy making plans of 2017 and it looks like it will be a very exciting and challenging year. Plans and groundwork are being made to once again host our Annual Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s on Sunday, February 12. Please keep in mind, if you have already sold tickets please bring the proceeds to Monday’s meeting. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Diana De Luca will be soliciting raffles from our members for this event. The proceeds raised goes toward our Annual High School Scholarships.
In April, the Chamber is finalizing plans to holds its first “Job Fair.” The Job Fair expected to be held on April 15 at the Phelps Lane Pool Pavilion will be open to all local businesses seeking to hire Full Time, Part Time or Seasonal employees. There will also be a table to assist individuals in preparing a resume. In June, we hope to host a Community Move Night at Phelps Lane (shooting for June 3). Once again, plans are in the works to hold the Second Annual Fall Festival, scheduled for Sunday, October 8. And of course, later in the year we will be decorating Deer Park Avenue for the Holiday’s and it is hoped that it will be bigger and better. Dates have not yet been set but, members will be asked to join in on our quarterly cleanup of Weeks road and the installation of a flag pole being donated by the Chamber to St. Paul’s Reformed Church in early spring. Please keep an eye out for more specific information.
One can see that the Chamber’s calendar is filling up and we will need the help of its members to take on these events and make them successful.
Further, Doug Snider of Map Toons should have already contacted you regarding the Maptoon Product. If not, and if you have an interest please let me know so that I can have Doug contact you. Doug has been pounding the sidewalks of the Babylon area and has well over 100 businesses on board. He stated that the final product should be ready for distribution in mid to late March.
Yours in business,
Garrett P. Simulcik, Sr.
